Adani New Industries Launches India’s First Off-Grid 5 MW Green Hydrogen Pilot Plant

Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL) has made a significant breakthrough in India’s clean energy transition with the successful commissioning of the nation’s first off-grid 5 MW Green Hydrogen Pilot Plant in Kutch, Gujarat. This pioneering facility is powered entirely by solar energy, showcasing a crucial step forward in decentralized, renewable energy production. Integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), the plant operates independently of the grid, reinforcing its sustainability and innovative design.
Advancing Renewable Energy with Green Hydrogen
The pilot plant utilizes a state-of-the-art, fully automated, closed-loop electrolyser system. This system is designed to dynamically respond to real-time renewable energy inputs, ensuring that the plant can adjust to the variability of solar power while maintaining efficiency, safety, and optimal performance. This cutting-edge technology marks a significant milestone for India’s green hydrogen ambitions, positioning the Adani Group as a leader in this emerging field.

Supporting India’s Green Hydrogen Mission
This green hydrogen pilot plant is not only a technological achievement but also a crucial component of India’s broader energy strategy. The project aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM), which aims to reduce India’s dependence on imported energy, increase energy self-sufficiency, and drive the decarbonization of energy-intensive industries. By 2030, India aspires to become a significant global exporter of green hydrogen, contributing significantly to its low-carbon future and the global net-zero targets. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in 2023 with a funding allocation of $2.4 billion, is critical to India's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
