CycloneCC Technology

The CycloneCC system uses cutting-edge technology to achieve high-performance carbon capture, even at low CO2 concentrations. Its innovative design combines rotating packed beds (RPBs) and Carbon Clean’s proprietary APBS-CDRMax solvent.

This technology allows for efficient carbon capture in environments where space is typically limited, such as industrial settings.

Aramco’s Commitment to Carbon Reduction

Ali A. Al-Meshari, Senior Vice President of Technology Oversight & Coordination at Aramco, expressed excitement about this collaboration. He stated that if successful, this demonstration could pave the way for wider deployment of this technology in the Kingdom and internationally.

Carbon Clean’s Role in the Collaboration

Aniruddha Sharma, Chair and CEO of Carbon Clean, highlighted the significance of the project. He mentioned that this deployment marks a key milestone in scaling and commercializing CycloneCC. Sharma noted that its modular design makes it easy to integrate with gas turbines and delivers high performance in limited space.

Samsung E&A’s Contribution to the Project

Cheon Hong Park, Executive Vice President at Samsung E&A, expressed his company’s excitement in supporting Aramco’s carbon reduction goals. He said that the project aligns with their mission to deliver innovative solutions that reduce environmental impact.

Park hopes the successful execution of the demonstration will contribute to scaling up Aramco’s carbon reduction efforts.

Key Responsibilities and Future Goals

SAMSUNG E&A will oversee the engineering, procurement, and construction of the carbon capture plant. The unit will be integrated into the exhaust gas stack of a sales gas compressor turbine, providing valuable performance data for future improvements.
