Avflight Mesa Launches Sustainable Aviation Fuel in Partnership with Avfuel

Avflight Mesa, in collaboration with Avfuel Corporation, has announced the introduction of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at its location, marking a significant step in eco-conscious aviation.
The first shipment of SAF arrived on August 28, making Avflight Mesa the first of Avflight’s 26 locations to offer this emission-reducing fuel option. This launch also makes Avflight Mesa the second location in Arizona to provide SAF, following Avfuel’s recent expansion efforts.
Avfuel, headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has supplied Avflight Mesa since acquiring the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) in 2020. The two companies have collaborated extensively to meet Avflight Mesa’s fuel needs and advance its sustainability goals.

“We are incredibly excited to offer SAF at our Mesa location,” said Aaron Mauer, senior regional manager for Avflight.
He added, “The addition of SAF to Avflight Mesa’s overall sustainability initiatives furthers our commitment to reducing the production of greenhouse gases and provides our customers the opportunity to work toward their sustainability goals.”
The SAF, produced by Neste in Long Beach, California, is branded as Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel.

It boasts a high blend ratio of 30% SAF to 70% petroleum-based jet fuel, with each 8,000-gallon truckload reducing carbon emissions by 19 metric tons over its lifecycle—equivalent to removing 4.5 passenger vehicles from the road for a year.
The introduction of SAF at Avflight Mesa aligns with the company’s broader network-wide sustainability efforts, which also include NATA’s Sustainability Standard certification and plans to install electric charging stations in key locations.
