Eco Wave Power Global AB, a leading onshore wave energy developer, has announced a strategic meeting with Terry Tamminen, CEO of AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles, to finalize the details of the first-ever onshore wave energy pilot project in the United States.

The project’s historic launch is scheduled for September 9, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the country’s renewable energy landscape.

The event will be held at AltaSea’s site in the Port of Los Angeles and is expected to attract key stakeholders from the clean energy sector, government, academia, and media. This launch will showcase Eco Wave Power’s innovative wave energy technology, which promises to offer a clean, scalable energy solution through ocean wave motion.

Eco Wave Power's Groundbreaking Technology

The pilot project will utilize Eco Wave Power's patented wave energy technology, where floaters attached to existing marine infrastructure convert wave motion into clean electricity.

This energy is then transmitted to land-based units for conversion, offering a sustainable and cost-effective solution for coastal cities. The project is a model for how ports worldwide can transform into clean energy hubs, contributing to the global fight against climate change.

Collaboration with AltaSea and Local Innovation

Terry Tamminen, CEO of AltaSea, said, “AltaSea was founded to accelerate ocean-based solutions to climate change, and Eco Wave Power is a perfect example of that vision becoming reality.”

He added, “This project is not just a first for the US—it's a model for how ports around the world can transform into clean energy hubs. We are proud to be the home of this historic installation."

Supporting Local Innovation and U.S. Jobs

The project is progressing steadily with the completion of the first three floaters, now entering the final stages of painting and preparation at All-Ways Metal, a woman-owned fabrication company based in California. This collaboration underscores Eco Wave Power’s commitment to US innovation and job creation, further supported by Shell's Marine Renewable Program.
