EDP Signs Solar Power Agreement with Microsoft for 200 MW Project in Singapore

EDP Renovaveis SA announced that it has signed a contract with Microsoft Corporation to sell all the solar power generated from its 200 megawatt-peak installations.

The 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) represents the second such deal in Singapore between the predominantly owned renewables division of EDP—Energias de Portugal SA and the American technology powerhouse.

Under the contract, EDPR will supply all of the output of the 200-MWp SolarNova 8 project.

"We are strengthening EDP’s global collaboration with Microsoft through this project, and together, we are taking a step towards achieving Singapore’s sustainability goals of at least 2 GW peak of solar energy by 2030," said Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade, CEO of EDP and EDPR.

Earlier this year, the renewables company secured the project after being granted Phase 8 of the SolarNova program.

EDPR announced plans to install solar panels on over 1,000 public housing buildings and more than 100 government properties in Singapore.

The initiative is part of the SolarNova programme, a comprehensive government-led effort aimed at expanding photovoltaic (PV) projects across the city-state.

Launched in 2024, SolarNova is spearheaded by the Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Housing and Development Board (HDB).
