Equinor’s BeGreen Launches 65 MW Ingerslev Å Solar Plant in Denmark
Equinor's Ingerslev Å solar plant begins operations in Denmark, marking a key milestone in its onshore renewables expansion through subsidiary BeGreen.

Equinor has officially begun production at its Ingerslev Å solar plant, located in Jutland, Denmark. This marks the successful operational launch of the 65 MW facility, which is managed by BeGreen, a subsidiary fully owned by Equinor. The solar plant’s first production represents an important achievement in Equinor’s strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio.

Strategic Growth in Onshore Renewables

Anders Bade, Senior Vice President for Onshore and Markets within Renewables at Equinor, said, “This is another step in our ambition to establish a profitable onshore renewables business in select markets across Europe and the Americas. Currently, we have around 1.2 GW of onshore capacity in production and under construction.”

First Project for BeGreen Since Equinor Acquisition

The Ingerslev Å solar plant also represents BeGreen's first operational project following Equinor’s acquisition of the company in 2023. This development marks a significant milestone in BeGreen’s integration into Equinor's operations. It also underscores Equinor’s continued commitment to its renewable energy objectives and strengthening its position in the European onshore renewables market.

Leveraging Local Expertise and Synergies

Bade also highlighted the strategic value of owning local companies like BeGreen. “Our ownership of local companies provides a strong foundation for value creation by leveraging their on-the-ground expertise and maximizing synergies with our trading house, Danske Commodities, said Bade.

The plant will sell the generated power through Danske Commodities, which will market the electricity on merchant terms in the DK1 power market in western Denmark. The estimated annual production of the plant is around 68 GWh.

Rapid Construction and Future Potential

The Ingerslev Å solar plant was constructed in under a year, demonstrating the efficiency and speed typical of Equinor's onshore renewable projects. The facility features over 100,000 solar panels and includes six transformer stations to support its operations.
