GE Vernova to supply 109 turbines for RWE’s Honey Mesquite and Forest Creek wind farms in Texas, boosting clean energy production and job creation.

GE Vernova Inc. has entered into an agreement with RWE to supply 109 of its advanced 2.8 MW–127m onshore wind turbines for two major wind projects in Texas. The turbines will power the Honey Mesquite wind farm in Glasscock County and revamp the Forest Creek Wind Farm near Big Spring.

The Forest Creek order was secured in the second quarter of 2024, while the Honey Mesquite order was booked in the third quarter of the same year. Deliveries of the turbines will commence later this year.

Boosting Wind Capacity and Local Jobs

Completing these projects will significantly boost RWE’s US wind capacity to over 1 gigawatt (GW). When completed, the wind farms will power enough electricity to serve over 85,000 Texas homes and businesses annually.

In addition to providing clean energy, the projects will also provide hundreds of full-time jobs at the height of construction and drive long-term work in advanced manufacturing roles at GE Vernova's Pensacola facility. This action is significant toward spurring local job growth and stimulating renewable energy development in the area.

Strengthening US Manufacturing and Energy Security

GE Vernova is tapping into its strong domestic manufacturing capabilities to meet the needs of these projects. The company will produce the turbines' nacelles in its Pensacola, Florida plant. The facility is crucial in upholding US energy security, affordability, and independence.

It is also remarkable for prioritizing hiring US veterans, with around 20 percent of its employees being veterans. This shows GE Vernova's commitment to respecting the country's servicemen while fostering local economies through employment.
