GreenGasUSA and Darling Ingredients Launch First Renewable Natural Gas Project in Georgia

GreenGasUSA and Darling Ingredients Inc. have successfully delivered the first renewable natural gas (RNG) from a joint project at Darling Ingredients’ rendering facility in Dublin, Georgia. The initiative upgrades biogas from on-site wastewater streams into pipeline-quality RNG, helping to lower Scope 1 emissions while generating a new revenue stream for Darling Ingredients. This month, the Dublin facility began injecting RNG into the City of Dublin’s natural gas pipeline, supplying customers in the voluntary offtake market.

Sustainability and Business Growth

Randall C. Stuewe, Chairman and CEO of Darling Ingredients, emphasized the project’s dual benefits. "This is another example of how Darling Ingredients is challenging the waste mindset by taking methane from one of our wastewater treatment plants and turning it into a revenue stream."

He added, "It’s a solution that benefits the planet by reducing emissions, while also supporting our business by creating value from waste, and reinforcing our commitment to sustainability – because what’s good for the environment is good for people and progress.”

GreenGas Founder and CEO Marc Fetten expressed pride in collaborating with industry leaders like Darling Ingredients to enhance sustainability and circularity in their operations. He noted that the Dublin, GA, project marks a significant milestone in a broader multi-site effort to cut greenhouse gas emissions, support agricultural markets, and expand renewable energy distribution across the US.

Expanding RNG Production

This project marks the first collaboration between the two companies to produce RNG from waste, offering both environmental and economic benefits at the local level. GreenGasUSA and Darling Ingredients plan to expand this model to additional facilities, subject to feasibility and market conditions.
