NLC India Limited Wins Strategic Mineral Blocks in Chhattisgarh

NLC India Limited, which is a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, reached a milestone when they emerged as the bidders for the mineral blocks named Raipura and Semhardih. They won the tender in the Tranche V auction conducted recently by the Ministry of Mines.
Critical Minerals for National Growth
Both the blocks are situated in chhattisgarh with abundant Phosphorite and Limestone in these two blocks. Both are raw materials for fertilizers and the industrial sector. Phosphorite is a key component in phosphate-based fertilizers and it is considered one of the most important elements in the agricultural industry. In summary, with the utilization of all Domestic reserves, NLCIL is also targeting the reduction of imports from reliance on other countries, thereby promoting the idea of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Bidding Details and Strategic Alignment
The winning offers of both Raipura and Semhardih rocks were 8.60% and 11.05% respectively. The acquisitions worked in tandem with NLCIL’s long-term goal, where they have to diversify the mining portfolio. The portfolio focuses more on the critical minerals that are essential for clean energy.

CMD’s Vision for a Self-Reliant Future
Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli said this as "a proud moment" and also said out that the landmark nature of the achievement to the advancement of India's mineral ecosystem, food security, and prospective technological capabilities. He reaffirmed NLCIL's commitment to supporting India's energy transition and sustainability objectives.
