NTPC & SEforALL Partner for India’s Clean Energy Transition
NTPC partners with SEforALL to drive India’s clean energy transition, targeting Net Zero by 2070 with innovative renewable energy solutions.

NTPC, a power company, has taken a significant step towards its clean energy transition by signing an agreement with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL). This partnership aims to develop a comprehensive energy transition roadmap, which will align with India’s energy security, development priorities, and its Net Zero commitments by 2070.

The roadmap, supported by SEforALL, will model multiple scenarios based on NTPC’s short-, mid-, and long-term strategic horizons. It will estimate investment needs, identify diversification opportunities, and outline the socio-economic benefits of transitioning to cleaner energy systems.

This step is India's latest contribution to its overall mission to lower emissions in the power sector, an indispensable part of the nation's climate plans.

NTPC’s Role in India’s Energy Transition

NTPC has been a leader in India’s energy transition, showcasing its commitment through green hydrogen pilot projects, floating solar photovoltaic (FSPV) systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), pumped storage hydropower, and carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technologies. As of 2021, NTPC became the first major utility to commit to the UN Energy Compact, pledging to install 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.

With its past record of fueling India's industrialization and urbanization since 1975, NTPC is now at the center of increasing the nation's energy security. The corporation has developed its portion of renewable energy in solar, wind, and hydropower at a fast rate and produces almost one fourth of India's electricity.

Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC, said, “Our aim is to foster responsible, sustainable economic development through an energy strategy that champions energy security, social inclusiveness, environmental stewardship, and growth powered by data, technology, and innovation.”

He added, “This agreement positions us to meet the rising demand from communities and industry while keeping us at the leading edge of the energy transition.”

This collaboration between SEforALL and NTPC is a significant move to achieving India's energy transition objectives and creating a sustainable clean energy powered future.
