Scala Data Centers Partners with Serena to Establish the Largest Renewable Energy Supply Agreement in Latin America

Scala Data Centers, a company focused on the data centers in the Hyperscale market, has partnered with Serena, a clean energy investment firm, to establish the largest renewable energy supply agreement in Latin America.

This project will expand Scala’s renewable energy portfolio, enhancing the supply of wind power to meet the needs of hyperscale data centers, including various AI workloads.

The agreement, set to initiate in January 2025, will source renewable energy from the Assuruá 4 and Ventos da Bahia 3 wind farms in Bahia, in the Northeast Region of Brazil.

These wind farms collectively have a capacity of 393 megawatts (MW).

As part of this agreement, Scala will also acquire a stake in these assets, effectively tripling the renewable energy available to its clients over the next decade.

The director of Structured Operations for the Americas, Fabiana Pasquot Polido, said, “The agreement with Scala data centers reinforced Serena's position to provide energy and infrastructure for high-performance computing and artificial intelligence, whether in Brazil or the United States.”

Luciano Fialho, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Scala Data Centers added, " In a global context where energy availability is a challenge, particularly with the rising demand due to AI workloads, our partnership with Serena reinforces our unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, all while maintaining carbon neutrality in our operations."
