SolarBank Corporation announced plans to construct a 13.8 MW DC ground-mount solar power project called the Grandview Project in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

This project is a component of a bigger plan that includes three plants with a combined 24.8 MW DC.

The Grandview Project aims to lower utility costs and increase access to solar energy for locals with different income levels.

SolarBank’s Grandview Project seeks to lower utility prices and enable citizens of all economic levels to access renewable energy.

House Bill 1842, passed by the Pennsylvania House on March 26, 2024, made the project possible.

The bill would allow companies like SolarBank to grow and provide solar power solutions to a wider clientele.

Dr. Richard Lu, the CEO of SolarBank, said, "Community solar is a great way for everyone to access renewable energy,"

He added, "Community members can go solar and contribute to building a sustainable future without having to install their own panels. We are excited for the next steps in developing the Grandview project, which would be a significant milestone in SolarBank's community solar portfolio, in addition to being a part of Pennsylvania's historic move toward a cleaner future."

Through the power generated by the Grandview Project, residents will be able to save money and receive credits on their electric bills. The Grandview Project will supply clean energy directly to the local electricity grid.

The project location has a lease, and SolarBank will proceed with the financing, interconnection, and permitting stages.
