Suzlon Group, a provider of renewable energy solutions, secured a 400-megawatt (MW) wind power order from JSP Green Wind 1 Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Jindal Renewables Power Private Limited.

This significant order further solidifies Suzlon's position as a market leader in the clean energy sector, increasing Suzlon’s cumulative order book to 5.4 gigawatts (GW).

Suzlon will provide 127 wind turbine generators (WTGs) equipped with Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) towers, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW.

JP Chalasani, the Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, said, "Decarbonisation of the steel sector is a critical area that requires intervention if we want to realise India's renewable energy targets.

He added, “With two Indian conglomerates joining hands to reassess and empower steelmaking operations, this collaboration is a true testament to 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat'. I am confident that this partnership will inspire many industry players to reassess their operations as we collectively work toward a more sustainable future."

The wind turbines will be installed in the Koppal region of Karnataka, and the energy generated will be used for captive consumption in steel plants located in Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

This initiative is expected to significantly improve the operational sustainability of the steel plants while also contributing to India’s green energy targets.
