TotalEnergies Acquires 435 MW of Solar and Battery Projects to Boost UK Clean Energy

TotalEnergies has announced the acquisition of a pipeline of 8 solar projects and 2 battery storage projects from Low Carbon, a leading renewable energy company. The total capacity of the solar projects is 350 MW, and the battery storage projects will add 85 MW to the energy mix.
A Step Towards Sustainability
The solar projects, which are in the advanced stages of development, are targeted to be operational by 2028. Once operational, the projects are expected to generate over 350 GWh of renewable electricity annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 100,000 UK households.
This acquisition underscores TotalEnergies’ ongoing commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint and supporting the UK's transition to clean power.
Strengthening TotalEnergies’ Renewable Portfolio
Olivier Jouny, Senior Vice President of Renewables at TotalEnergies, said, “We are very pleased with the acquisition of this pipeline from the renewable developer Low Carbon.”
He added, “The acquisition of these solar and battery projects located in the south of England will complement our integrated electricity portfolio in the UK, which includes 1.1 GW of gross installed offshore wind, 1.3 GW of gross combined cycle gas turbine, and more than 600 MW of solar projects under development”,
The deal is part of TotalEnergies' larger strategy to strengthen its renewable energy production capabilities and supply stable, clean energy solutions.
The deal also facilitates Low Carbon's expansion as a standalone power producer as well as its further development of high-quality renewable assets.
