Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), Tata Power's renewable energy subsidiary, signed a landmark Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tata Motors for co-developing a 131 MW wind-solar hybrid project. The project will supply clean energy round-the-clock to six Tata Motors manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

A Green Milestone for Tata Motors

The hybrid project will generate around 300 million units of renewable electricity every year, cutting over 200,000 tons of CO₂ emissions a year.

This strategic co-investment and long-term PPA move by Tata Motors is an important step in realizing its RE100 target of 100% renewable energy by 2030, possibly sooner than that. The project contributes to the company's overall sustainability ambition to go net-zero and advance responsible automobile production.

Reliable Green Power, Anytime

The wind-solar hybrid will deliver consistent and cost-effective green energy across all hours. TPREL's unique advantage of being able to integrate various renewable technologies, solar, wind, floating solar, and battery storage into hybrid systems places it at a strong advantage in offering round-the-clock and scalable energy solutions to high-energy-demanding industries.

Scaling Sustainable Solutions Across India

TPREL’s latest collaboration with Tata Motors further strengthens its portfolio of group captive renewable energy projects. With this agreement, TPREL surpasses 1.5 GW in group captive capacity, serving industries like steel, hospitality, realty, and retail.

It already has about 478 MW under the group captive model in operation, with another 1.1 GW in development to be completed over the next 6 to 24 months.

The project is a follow-up to TPREL's successful collaborations with other Tata Group entities like Tata Steel and Tata Communications, highlighting the Group's unified drive towards leadership in sustainable energy.
