Transition Industries Signs EPC Contract for Pacifico Mexinol Project

Transition Industries LLC, a North American developer focused on net-zero carbon emissions methanol and green hydrogen projects, has reached a significant milestone in its Pacifico Mexinol project.
The company signed an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract with a consortium consisting of Samsung E&A Co., Ltd., Grupo Samsung E&A Mexico, S.A. de C.V., and Techint Engineering and Construction.
The signing event, contingent on the fulfillment of customary conditions and required approvals, marks a critical step forward in the development of the world’s largest ultra-low carbon chemical production facility.
A Global Partnership for Sustainable Innovation
The signing ceremony also included a key agreement between MAIRE Group’s technology division, NextChem, and Samsung E&A. This agreement entails the supply of proprietary NX AdWinMethanol®Zero technology, which will be used in the Pacifico Mexinol project.
The collaboration between Transition Industries, the consortium, and technology providers underscores a strong international partnership aimed at advancing sustainable chemical production technologies.
Pacifico Mexinol: A Landmark Green Methanol Project
The Pacifico Mexinol facility, located in Ahome, Sinaloa, Mexico, will produce approximately 350,000 metric tons (MT) of green methanol and 1.8 million MT of blue methanol annually, using carbon capture and natural gas.
When fully operational in 2029, the facility will be the largest standalone ultra-low carbon chemical production plant in the world. The project is jointly developed with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group.
Rommel Gallo, CEO of Transition Industries, said, “Today’s signing ceremony represents a significant milestone for the Pacifico Mexinol project, enabling us to showcase our world-class innovation and partnerships with Samsung E&A of South Korea, Techint of Mexico and MAIRE Group of Italy.
He added, “It also puts us on track to break ground in 2025 and begin delivering on our unwavering commitment to build the world’s most sustainable large-scale project in Mexico.”
