Vycarb Launches Pilot Project for Carbon Dioxide Removal in New York City

Vycarb, a prominent carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and storage player has launched an innovative pilot project along New York City’s East River.

This initiative, backed by the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation’s Yard Labs program, aims to demonstrate Vycarb's advanced technology for capturing, removing, and storing carbon dioxide.

Situated at the waterfront of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the pilot project is designed to permanently remove and store 100 tons of carbon dioxide annually using water and minerals.

Vycarb intends to showcase the system's scalability and cost-effectiveness, contributing to broader efforts to combat climate change.

As global carbon dioxide levels continue to escalate, the need for effective climate action is increasingly urgent. While reducing carbon emissions is critical, it must be complemented by viable carbon removal strategies.

Vycarb's approach features two significant innovations: a unique CO2 neutralisation process and advanced carbon sensing technology. These developments enable the company to accurately measure and accurately store carbon dioxide on a large scale.

The East River pilot represents a significant milestone for Vycarb, marking its largest deployment to date.

Through this project, the company aims to demonstrate that its solution for carbon removal and storage is both practical and economically viable.

Moreover, this initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to address climate challenges and highlights the potential for innovative technologies to create a sustainable future.
