Around 15,000 GWh of emission-free energy produced by Avangrid in the first eight months of 2024 helped prevent almost 23 billion pounds of CO2 emissions from fossil fuel energy generation.
This is equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions from nearly 2.5 million gas-powered passenger cars and the emissions from burning about 11.5 billion pounds of coal.
The company is committed to achieving carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, in line with Iberdrola’s SBTi goals.
Additionally, Avangrid is making progress towards achieving its goal of having 9.5 GW of emissions-free electricity capacity by 2025.
