Eni, an energy company headquartered in Rome, signed an agreement with SERI Industrial, a major player in the energy storage field, for the development of the ENI SERI battery in Italy.
The agreement focuses on exploring the development of a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery manufacturing supply chain in Italy, specifically highlighting the ENI SERI battery project.
This partnership has the potential to advance the production of energy storage systems (ESS) and support electric mobility in both industrial and commercial sectors.
As part of their collaboration, the two companies are considering forming a joint venture to set up a battery manufacturing facility at Eni’s site in Brindisi, Italy.
The proposed facility would feature a production area for stationary energy storage, a production line for creating active materials, and a battery recycling operation.
This venture would complement an existing project by SERI Industrial’s subsidiary FIB, which is constructing a similar facility in the province of Caserta, Italy, focusing on the ENI SERI battery.

Role of Stationary Batteries
Stationary batteries play a vital role in stabilizing electricity grids by addressing the intermittency of renewable energy sources, thereby supporting wider renewable deployment throughout Italy.
After completing the due diligence process, the companies can create formal, binding agreements that outline the terms and conditions for their collaborative partnership moving forward.
This partnership, focusing on the ENI SERI battery, will strengthen SERI Industrial’s position in the battery sector while allowing Eni to further its energy transition goals through a significant and transformative project within the industrial landscape.
