Spiritus, a climate tech company launched its first pilot facility. The facility will deliver 1000 tons of gross carbon removal capability at full capacity. Scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2025, the facility will serve as a milestone towards the company’s goal of creating megaton Carbon Orchards.
The NambĂ© Pueblo facility follows Spiritus’ recent unveiling of its first manufacturing site, Garden One, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, where the company will produce the sorbent material necessary for passive COâ‚‚ removal. This material enables Spiritus to capture carbon at significantly higher efficiency and lower costs than previous technologies.
The New Mexico facility will test these technologies in real-world conditions, further validating Spiritus’ scalable approach to carbon removal. Orchard one will focus on geological sequestraion in Wyoming demonstarting the large-scale commercial potential of Spiritus’ technology.

Job Creation and Economic Impact
The pilot facility expects to create high-skill, sustainable regional jobs over the next few years. It will also contribute to the local economy by supporting vendors and tradesmen involved in its development. The Nambé Pueblo Development Corporation (NPDC) was pivotal in providing the site and completing key infrastructure upgrades. The collaboration with Spiritus has already proven beneficial for the community and the environment.
Carlos O. Vigil, President and Acting CEO of the NambĂ© Pueblo Development Corporation, said, “NambĂ© Pueblo Development Corporation (NPDC) is fortunate to have come across a company whose mission aligns so closely with our cultural and spiritual responsibilities to protect and enhance our environment where possible.”
He added, “We welcome Spiritus to our NPDC family and hope that the economic benefits of their presence will extend to our Pueblo and our surrounding communities of Northern New Mexico.”
