Alerion Clean Power S.p.A., through its subsidiaries, is making significant progress in boosting renewable energy capacity in Romania, with upcoming wind farm projects anticipated to contribute 336 megawatts (MW) to the local grid.
Authorisation Granted for Two Wind Farms Totaling 220 MW in Capacity
Alerion Clean Power S.p.A., via its subsidiaries Vulturu Power Park S.r.l. and Vulturu Wind Farm S.r.l., has received authorization to construct two wind farms in the Dobrogea region of Romania.
These facilities, planned in the municipalities of Crucea, Saraiu, and Vulturu, will have respective capacities of 114 MW and 108 MW, resulting in a total potential capacity of about 220 MW.

Three-Farm Project to Reach 336 MW in Total Capacity
The authorised wind farms form part of a broader initiative that includes three adjacent wind farms.
Once complete, this project will contribute approximately 336 MW to Romania’s renewable energy framework.
Alerion expects to obtain approval for the third wind farm by late 2024, paving the way for the entire project to move forward toward finalisation.

Substation Design Underway to Support Regional Grid Enhancements
In addition to the wind farms, Alerion has begun planning for a 400/110 kilovolt (kV) substation. This substation will link the wind farms to Romania’s electricity grid, improving the region’s grid stability and capacity.
Consequently, the entire 336 MW wind power project expects to achieve full production capacity by 2027.
At this stage, it anticipates producing around 1,100 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of renewable energy annually, facilitating Romania’s shift toward sustainable energy sources. Once fully operational, the expected annual gross operating margin (EBITDA) for the project will be €85 million.
Overall, this development underscores Alerion Clean Power’s commitment to enhancing renewable energy capacity throughout Europe and reinforces Romania’s role in sustainable energy production.
