BLUETTI, a global provider of clean energy storage solutions, formed a significant partnership with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
This partnership aims to enhance the adoption of renewable energy and promote sustainable development throughout Africa.
This collaboration was announced at the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12) held in Cairo, Egypt, from November 4-8, 2024.
WUF12’s theme, “It All Starts at Home,” stressed the need for actions to address urgent urban issues.
These issues include affordable housing, climate change, rising living costs, and insufficient access to essential services.
In this context, BLUETTI’s commitment to clean energy aligns with the forum’s call for immediate local responses.

The energy crisis in Africa is particularly severe, with millions of people lacking dependable access to electricity.

During WUF12, BLUETTI and UN-Habitat formally collaborated by signing a Technology Transfer Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The MOU emphasizes introducing renewable energy in Africa through training electricians and clean energy education.
A key initiative under this partnership is BLUETTI’s Lighting an African Family (LAAF) program.
Since its inception in 2021, the LAAF program has enabled over 15,000 off-grid families to access solar-powered solutions
The LAAF program provides solar energy options and equips communities with skills to enhance local energy resilience.
Liting Huang, LAAF Program Manager said, “This collaboration with UN-Habitat represents a significant milestone in our mission to advance sustainable development across Africa.”
She added, “Since 2021, our LAAF program has empowered over 15,000 off-grid families with solar power. This time, we plan to provide comprehensive training to 30,000-50,000 residents and students in Sub-Saharan African countries. We are thrilled to expand these efforts to uplift even more communities through renewable energy and education.”
Through collaboration with UN-Habitat, BLUETTI aims to significantly impact Africa by equipping local communities with sustainable energy solutions.
The initiative also focuses on providing the necessary educational resources to help build a more resilient future.
