BrightNight, a new generation of global renewable power producers, announced the commercial operations launch of the first phase of its 115 MW hybrid renewable project, Optima Maharashtra, located at Dharashiv, Southern Maharashtra. This marks the first hybrid renewable installation in India for BrightNight as it enters the Indian power grid and furthers its commitment to an environmentally conscious future.
A Milestone for India’s Clean Energy Transition
Spanning an area of approximately 500 acres, Optima Maharashtra deploys combinations of wind and solar technologies enabled by BrightNight’s proprietary AI-enabled PowerAlpha platform. This combines the highest quality of power with low carbon footprint. It will power 230,000 homes with clean energy and prevent the environment from carbon emissions of 225,000 tons every year simultaneously.
Martin Hermann, CEO of BrightNight, said, “This milestone project marks the official launch of BrightNight’s operations in the Asia Pacific region as we focus on building a cleaner, more sustainable future.”
He added, “India’s rapid growth, significant energy demand, and favorable policy environment make it a key market for us, and we are confident in our ability to deliver substantial value here. Optima Maharashtra will be pivotal in advancing the State’s clean energy goals and supporting India’s broader Net Zero mission.”
India is the world’s fastest-growing renewable energy market and for BrightNight, it has taken up its first foothold at Asia-Pacific. In 2019, BrightNight started its expansion in India and, in 2023, ACEN Corporation also invested $250 million in BrightNight India.
The company recently signed a power purchase agreement with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited and also acquired tenders from NTPC and NHPC for hybrid wind-solar energy supply.

Catalyzing Economic Growth and Decarbonization
Optima Maharashtra drives India’s clean energy transition while creating around 300 jobs during its development phase. By deploying advanced technologies, the project will provide tailored power solutions to meet the unique energy needs of the State.
Naveen Khandelwal, CEO of BrightNight India, said, “This project is the first of many from BrightNight India and sets a blueprint for future developments that will drive faster and deeper decarbonization.”
Furthermore, the company is building two of its flagship projects in Rajasthan, integrating wind, solar, and battery storage to generate dependable power output to feed the national grid. More hybrid projects are under way in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Rajasthan, claims the company.
