Consumers Energy is moving forward with an extended clean energy initiative fueled by customer demand.
This initiative, which recently received endorsement from the Michigan Public Service Commission, aims to reduce expenses and support environmental conservation efforts.
Lauren Snyder, Consumers Energy’s vice president of customer experience, said, “Consumers Energy is excited to expand customers’ options so more people can power clean energy here in Michigan.”

This new effort, set to launch in 2025, empowers households and businesses to match 100% of their energy usage with renewable sources such as wind and solar power.
Consumers Energy is accelerating the implementation of large-scale wind and solar projects by lifting the cap on its utility-scale renewable energy programs.
This move opens participation to residential and small business customers, creating a collective effort with larger businesses to propel the shift towards a greener energy future.
Additionally, the expansion includes the Green Giving program, which allows businesses, landlords, nonprofits, and individuals to procure renewable energy on behalf of others.
This approach enables subscribers to expand clean energy’s financial and environmental advantages to friends, family, tenants and even low-income neighbors.
