EDF Renewables North America announced that its Huck Finn Solar project has reached commercial operation, starting from December 2024. Designed for Ameren Missouri, a subsidiary of Ameren Corporation, the Huck Finn Renewable Energy Center covers 200 MWac / 270 MWdc and now supplies electricity to the local power grid.
Great Local Benefits and Job Opportunities
The Huck Finn Solar project was contributing to the renewable energy capacity of the state of Missouri as well as providing a boost to the local economy. In the construction phase, at its peak, over 500 jobs were provided by this project. The operational phase would produce revenues of more than $14 million for the counties of Audrain and Ralls. Upon full operation, Huck Finn Solar will supply electricity to more than 37,000 homes thus further moving away from fossil fuels.
Regional Project Development Manager for EDF Renewables Jesse Laniak said, “We are thrilled to announce the successful launch of the Huck Finn Solar project, which is now fully operational and contributing to Ameren Missouri’s solar generation portfolio.”
He added, “We extend our sincere gratitude to the communities in Audrain and Ralls Counties whose support has been instrumental in transforming this project into a model of community-driven, sustainable development.”
Mark Birk, chairman and president of Ameren Missouri, stated that the company is striving to change the energy grid for its customers, focusing on increasing the reliability and resiliency for customers and at the same time providing cleaner energy to local communities. He also said that the customers expect Ameren Missouri to continue investing in new generation sources to provide long-term reliability and service for decades.
