The capacities from the plant, estimated will reach 269 MW of photovoltaic installations as well as 1.1 GWh of energy storage capacity.
Continued Support from International Banks
The financing for Oasis de Atacama’s fourth phase builds on the successful funding of earlier phases of the project. These same five international banks also financed the first three phases of the project, contributing a total of $643 million. Additionally, the syndication for the first phase included Bank of America (BofA), BBVA, and Bank of China. With this deal, Grenergy has secured nearly $967 million in total financing for the entire Oasis de Atacama project.
Ben Koehler, Managing Director in Société Générale’s Energy+ Group, said, “Société Générale is delighted to have worked closely with Grenergy on this series of landmark solar and battery storage transactions. Oasis de Atacama Sale Generates Significant Cash Flow
Grenergy recently sold the first three phases of Oasis de Atacama, representing 23% of the project, to ContourGlobal. The deal, valued at up to $962 million, has generated strong cash flow for the company. This successful asset sale showcases Grenergy’s ability to generate value from hybrid projects combining solar power and battery storage.
The sale of initial project phases has helped Grenergy cut its leverage ratio to below 1x on a proforma basis. Additionally, the company has exceeded its asset rotation target set for 2026, accomplishing this goal two years ahead of schedule. With funding for the remaining Oasis de Atacama phases, Grenergy is ready to move forward with its 2023-2026 plan.
