Invenergy, a leading privately held developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions, has announced a significant virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Honda Motor Co., Ltd.
This agreement will provide 63 megawatts (MW) of clean energy from the Rusutsu Wind Energy Center in Hokkaido prefecture, offsetting 64,000 tons of carbon emissions each year. This marks the largest corporate VPPA in the region.
The Rusutsu VPPA follows a 200-MW offtake agreement Invenergy secured with a Honda group company in North America related to the Samson Solar Energy Center in the United States. Upon completion, it will become one of the largest solar energy facilities in the Western Hemisphere.
