Meta announced that it has signed four new Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements (EAPAs) with Zelestra. The EAPAS will facilitate the development of four solar initiatives with an overall capacity of 720 MWdc. As stated by the company, these projects are situated in Hopkins, Lamar, Lampasas, and Henderson Counties.
These projects will deliver electricity into the ERCOT grid. This energy will be used to support Meta’s data centre operations. In this manner, the new agreements and projects will aid Meta’s goal of powering all its data centres with clean energy.

Commitment and Expansion
Urvi Parekh, Head of Global Energy at Meta, said, “The renewable energy from these projects will support our data center operations. It’s an important step toward matching our electricity usage with 100% clean and renewable energy.”
Apart from helping Meta’s goals, the deal also benefits Zelestra. It facilitates Zelestra’s goal of expanding its footprint in the US. Zelestra aims to double its total contracted renewable energy portfolio in the next two years. The company already has a strong portfolio of clean energy projects across multiple states.
Future Outlook
The United States remains an essential center for the advancement of renewable energy. With more than 1 GWdc of projects underway, Zelestra is contributing to the nation’s shift towards a low-carbon future.
The upcoming projects will significantly aid in reaching the US clean energy targets, bringing advantages to both businesses and local communities.
As both companies expand their renewable energy initiatives, they continue to prioritize the reduction of carbon emissions and the acceleration of decarbonization efforts.
