Enhanced Energy Storage to Improve Grid Stability
Launched in 2022, the Tārgale Wind Park now features a utility-scale energy storage system for better grid stability.
This system, featuring a storage capacity of 20 MWh, allows the facility to capture surplus energy produced during windy conditions and release it back to the grid when demand is higher.
Hoymiles played a vital role in this development, supplying 3,450 kW Power Conversion System (PCS) units for the AC components and 3.44 MWh battery units for the DC components.
The investment of €7 million demonstrates Utilitas Wind’s commitment to promoting sustainable energy solutions within Latvia.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by notable Latvian figures, including Kaspars Melnis, the Minister for Climate and Energy.
Mr. Kaspars Melnis said, “It is essential to build new green energy capacity to ensure the resilience and smooth operation of our energy systems as we prepare for a key transition early next year. We are clearly moving in the right direction.”
The new energy storage system is vital for stabilising Latvia’s energy supply and promoting sustainability.
This facility enhances energy resilience and supports Latvia’s environmental goals by storing and distributing renewable energy.
Hoymiles enhances global clean energy efforts, making renewables more reliable and accessible.
