Mizuho Securities, in collaboration with Blue Sky Solar, is launching an initiative in renewable energy funding in Japan. Together, they are pioneering Japan’s first ever tokenized infrastructure private equity fund. This initiative aims to streamline management and reduce costs associated with renewable energy investments.
Japan’s First Tokenized Infrastructure Fund
Tokenization allows investors to participate in renewable energy projects through digital securities. This improves transparency and efficiency. This innovation provides an opportunity to cut down on traditional financial management costs and offers greater liquidity.

The project involves a dual entity structure. Blue Sky Asset Management manages the LLC assets, while investments in tokens occur through a limited partnership. The token’s transferability is tightly controlled, needing holder requests and issuer approval for transactions.
Expertise in Renewable Energy
Blue Sky Solar brings significant experience to this partnership. The company has successfully managed 376 projects with a combined total capacity of 318 MW. In this venture, Blue Sky Solar has acquired eight solar power facilities. These facilities generate a combined capacity of 9.5 MW, enough to power approximately 9,000 homes.
This collaboration seeks to increase access to renewable energy sources while introducing an innovative investment model that is consistent with global financial trends. In embracing tokenization, Mizuho Securities and Blue Sky Solar provide a pathway to wider participation in the renewable energy sector.
Tokenization in Renewable Energy Investments
The issuance of tokens leverages the iBet for Fin tokenization platform, developed by BOOSTRY, Japan’s second-largest digital securities blockchain network. The platform has already supported other sustainable finance projects, including Hitachi’s green bond issuance. This further highlights the growing role of blockchain technology in facilitating green energy investments in Japan.
Japan’s Strategic Shift Toward Digital Finance
This collaboration reflects Japan’s broader strategy to embrace innovative financial technologies. As the country shifts toward digitizing renewable energy funding, it aims to become a leader in clean energy investments. By introducing tokenized infrastructure funds, Mizuho and Blue Sky Solar are helping pave the way for more accessible, transparent, and efficient renewable energy financing.
The partnership between Mizuho Securities and Blue Sky Solar marks a significant milestone in Japan’s energy sector. With tokenized infrastructure funds and advanced blockchain technology, this initiative marks new doors opening for sustainable opportunities in investment. As Japan seeks to innovate at the forefront of the renewable energy front, this endeavor could be emulated in new global projects worldwide.
