Deep Wind Offshore announced that it has extended its exclusive rights to develop an offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea region by winning an auction for the Saare 2.2. site.
Nearly ten days ago, the company had won an auction round for the Saare 2.1 site.
The Norwegian company submitted the only bid of 1,327,500 euros, which was also the starting price of the auction.
With the acquisition of the rights to the Saare 2.2 site, the area for the development of offshore wind expands from 168 to 252 square kilometres.
The company is eyeing Estonia as a core market and aims to develop more than 10 GW of offshore wind within 10 years.

As per the application for a superficies license submitted by Deep Wind Offshore AS on March 28, 2024, they plan to install up to 56 wind turbines with a combined capacity of up to 840 MW in the Saare 2.2 sea area, announced Estonia’s Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (CPTRA).
“We are pleased to expand our area for exclusive development. We look forward to the discussions with the Estonian Authorities about how this project can contribute to the country reaching its climate goals, enhance energy security, build value chains, and create local jobs”, CEO Knut Vassbotn of Deep Wind Offshore said.
According to the CTPRA, the auction for the Saare 3 site is scheduled for July 4th to 7th.
