Delhi's Green Push: PM Modi Launches 200 New Electric Buses

According to The New Indian Express, India's prime minister, Narendra Modi, flagged 200 electric buses in New Delhi as part of the country's effort to achieve net-zero by 2070. The project contributes to the shift in urban areas toward more sustainable and clean transportation systems.
Enhancing Delhi’s Public Transport with Electric Vehicles
The electric buses that have recently been flagged off are set to join the fleet of e-buses currently operating on the streets of the nation's capital. The goal is to reduce the carbon footprint with no reduction in the services offered to passengers.
The buses are expected to offer a substitute for the diesel-powered buses that are currently in use, which aids in pollution control and also helps in the advancement of the goal of creating a cleaner, greener city.

Sustainable Mobility
According to PM Modi, the action aligns India's climate objectives with the broader goal of cleaner air in urban areas. It was emphasized that this change is a positive step for the country because it helps address urban pollution brought on by the supposedly outdated public transportation system
The Prime minister stated on his official X account, “Building a clean and green Delhi! Flagged off Electric Buses under an initiative of the Delhi government aimed at boosting sustainable development and clean urban mobility. Additionally, this will also improve ‘Ease of Living’ for the people of Delhi.”
The plans were executed on world environment day, where it was stated by the CM of the Union Territory that approximately 70 lakh trees will be planted this year under the initiative “Ek Ped Maa ke naam”, and a new EV policy will be rolled out soon in the National Capital.
