Northern Indian Public Service Company LLC (NIPSCO), a subsidiary of NiSource Inc., announced that it has completed a solar project for its electric generation fleet.
The solar project, Cavalry Solar, is now operational and efficiently producing cost-effective clean energy that households and businesses can utilize.
“The completion of Cavalry Solar, the third solar project in NIPSCO’s generating mix, is a crucial step in advancing our energy generation transition plan to provide sustainable, cost-effective and reliable energy now and into the future,” said Vince Parisi, NIPSCO President and Chief Operating Officer.
He added, “The inclusion of battery energy storage is an example of the advancing technology we’re incorporating into our energy transition to best meet the needs of our customers.”

According to the announcement, it is anticipated to generate nearly 200 megawatts(MW) of solar energy. An additional 45 MW of battery storage technology is also installed.
Cavalry Energy Center, LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, developed and constructed the facility, which is located in White County, Indiana.
The facility is reported to generate enough energy to power around 60,000 households along with generating $25 million in tax revenue for the region over the lifecycle of the project.
