The Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum commenced on 15 January in Davos, Switzerland. The theme for this year 2024 is “Rebuilding Trust”, with over 200 sessions that will be live-streamed for access to the wider public.
The meeting will conclude on 19 January and is expected to be attended by over 100 governments, international organizations, WEF’s 1000 partner companies, and social entrepreneurs.
India has announced its presence with three lounges:
India Engagement Centre: To showcase India’s digital public infrastructure landscape, startup ecosystem, and energy sector.
Experience India Centre: This lounge will showcase India’s latest technologies, especially sustainability initiatives. It will also celebrate inclusivity and cultural elements.
India Investment Centre: For government-to-business (G2B) and business-to-business (B2B) networking and interactions via roundtables and panel discussions.
Various states of India have also announced their participation.
A release from Tamil Nadu stated that the key objective is to present the state’s highly skilled talent pool, robust infrastructure, and policies while highlighting its distinctive approach to governance and politics.

Karnataka said that “Innovation Will Impact” will be its theme for the WEF 2024.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu are attending the meeting. The chief minister is expected to participate in a high-level event on ‘Food Systems and Local Action.’

Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant told reporters: “I can assure you that Maharashtra will be getting the highest investment & historical MOUs will be signed.”

“At a time when global challenges require urgent solutions, innovative public-private collaboration is necessary to convert ideas into action,” said Børge Brende, President, World Economic Forum in a release. “The Forum provides the structure for developing research, alliances, and frameworks that promote mission-driven cooperation throughout the year. Next week’s Annual Meeting will serve as an accelerator of that cooperation, deepening connections between leaders and between initiatives.”
