Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has strengthened its climate action efforts by signing a carbon dioxide removal (CDR) purchase agreement with ClimeFi. BCG agreed to buy 50,250 tonnes of certified, durable CO2 removals under this deal.
BCG’s Growing Commitment to Carbon Removal
This latest agreement pushes BCG’s total investment in durable carbon removal to 200,000 tonnes. Based on the CO2 reporting platform CDR.fyi, it ranks BCG among the top 10 global buyers of durable carbon removal.
Supporting Diverse Carbon Removal Technologies
The collaboration with ClimeFi is part of BCG’s overall strategy to balance out its carbon emissions. BCG is investing in an extensive portfolio of decarbonization technologies to support a wide range of carbon removal projects, including enhanced rock weathering, microbial carbon mineralization, biochar technology, and subsurface biomass storage.
Under the agreement, ClimeFi will manage the selection of projects that align with BCG’s sustainability goals. These projects will utilize cutting-edge technologies from companies like Lithos Carbon, Andes, and Graphyte.

Focus on Innovation and Long-term Environmental Impact
The purchase agreement marks BCG’s second largest investment in durable carbon removal. The purchase expected to be delivered by the end of 2026. Through this investment, BCG is addressing its carbon footprint and helping drive the growth of novel technologies that deliver impactful environmental results.
The company has also increased its investment in biochar technology, partnering with Exomad Green and Euthenia Energy. These new projects will contribute to a more diverse and effective carbon removal portfolio.
