Summit Carbon Solutions (Summit) and Infinium, the leading producer of electrofuels (eFuels), have entered into an agreement to provide up to 670,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually for a proposed eFuels facility in North Dakota.
A Reliable CO2 Supply for eFuels Production
With Summit’s huge pipeline network, Infinium will now access a steady, reliable supply of CO2 for its ultra-low carbon eFuels. These advanced fuels are made by combining captured CO2 with renewable green hydrogen derived from power sources like wind and solar. Used in aviation, shipping, and heavy transport, eFuels are gaining attention for their role in reducing carbon emissions while meeting growing demand in both US and international markets.
Summit’s CEO, Lee Blank, said, “This partnership demonstrates how CO2 infrastructure drives energy independence and enables new markets for ethanol producers, farmers, and rural communities.”
He added, “CO2 is a commodity with growing value, and Infinium’s eFuels technology is an important piece of the puzzle. By providing a reliable CO2 supply, we’re helping unlock opportunities that support domestic energy production and economic growth.”
Meeting the Growing Demand for eFuels
Robert Schuetzle, CEO of Infinium, explained that as the demand for eFuels rises, securing reliable and scalable CO2 sources becomes essential. He added that Summit’s infrastructure would provide the necessary CO2 to scale production and position eFuels as a crucial element in America’s energy future.

Job Creation and Economic Impact
Additionally, the construction and operation of the proposed Infinium eFuels facility in the Midwest will create a significant economic boost. It will generate investment in state and local economies, creating high-paying, skilled jobs, as well as hundreds of additional positions. The facility would also provide new market opportunities for US ethanol producers and farmers in the Heartland, strengthening the region’s role in America’s energy future.
