The Avaada Group, an India-based entity, has initiated a $12 billion investment in Rajasthan to hasten the switch towards renewable energy.
The announcement was made at the Rising Rajasthan 2024 Summit. Both the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma were present at the summit.
A Global Renewable Energy Hub
Given that it has 325 sunny days a year, Rajasthan is believed to have enormous renewable energy sources, with about 142 GW of solar capacity. $78 billion has already been invested in the state through its policy initiatives, including the Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 and the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme 2024.Consequently, the area becomes a competitive option for the development of renewable energy.

Avaada’s Vision for a Sustainable Future
Vineet Mittal, the Chairman of the Avaada Group, said there is a vast solar and wind resource in Rajasthan and very supportive leadership in the state. He added that investment by Avaada Group seeks to double the economy of the region by 2030, generating many employment opportunities along the way.
He also pointed out that the investment and other efforts are in line with global climate change objectives.
Key Projects and Initiatives
Avaada’s investments include a $700 million 1.2GW Pumped Storage Project to enhance energy storage and grid stability. In addition, utility-scale solar and wind energy projects are also in the development pipeline. These projects are slated for regions like Jhalawar, Kota, Barmer, and Bikaner.
Avaada group also has plans to establish green hydrogen and ammonia projects. These projects have will boost decarbonization goals
Strengthening Global Competitiveness
Rajasthan’s alignment with international sustainability frameworks, like the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), boosts its appeal for zero-carbon manufacturing. These developments position the state as a leader in green industrial growth.
Avaada’s Journey in Rajasthan
Avaada began its journey in the state with a 150MW solar project and has expanded into large-scale renewable energy ventures. Notably, it secured a 1.05GW solar capacity project through a National Thermal Power Corporation auction in May.
This $12 billion commitment highlights Avaada’s dedication to transforming Rajasthan into a global renewable energy hub.
