Neoenergia and the Ministry of Defense announced the signing of a Technical Cooperation Agreement to finalize contracts with Brazil’s Armed Forces.
The initiative focuses on constructing 10 solar power plants and replacing 3.6 thousand inefficient lamps with LED models.
These LEDs are 40% more energy-efficient and will be installed in Army, Navy, and Air Force buildings across the Federal District, Bahia, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, and São Paulo.

The solar plants and lamp replacements are scheduled for installation and operation by year-end, promoting clean, renewable energy and expectedly reducing institutions’ electricity bills by R$ 2.1 million annually.
Through an estimated investment of R$ 8.8 million facilitated by the Efficiency Program Energetica (PEE) under ANEEL regulation, Neoenergia’s partnership with the Armed Forces entails constructing 10 solar power plants totalling over 2.1 MWp capacity.
These plants are anticipated to generate approximately 370 MWh/year, resulting in an annual savings of about R$ 2.1 million on energy bills for the institutions involved.
