Radiance Solar and SolAmerica Energy have formally launched the Stephenson S1 Solar Project, a 2.86-megawatt (MW) community solar program in Freeport, Illinois. This marks a powerful start to a partnership consolidating their joint commitment to increasing renewable energy access throughout Illinois.
A Leading Step in Community Solar
Radiance Solar, with 25 previous projects in Illinois, takes a leading role in the state’s community solar industry. The Stephenson S1 project is Radiance Solar’s 26th, solidifying its role as a leading force in regional solar energy adoption.
The project will utilize American-built solar panels from First Solar, offering the Freeport community clean, dependable energy. The project is aligned with state and national clean energy objectives and brings economic and environmental benefits to the community.
Environmental and Economic Impact
The Stephenson S1 project will produce 4,155 MWh a year, reducing emissions such as taking 463 cars off the road or energizing 234 homes. It has significant environmental advantages while aiding Illinois in shifting to a more sustainable energy future.
