On November 14, the fourth day of COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, the Green Zone continued its climate action initiatives with a joint panel session co-organised by the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company and PASHA Holding, a key COP29 Impact Partner.
The “Climate Finance Landscape in the South Caucasus and Central Asia” session brought together regional experts to examine the region’s status, challenges, and future opportunities for climate finance.
The discussions emphasised sustainable investments, public-private partnerships, and existing financial frameworks to enhance resilience and facilitate adaptation efforts.
The panel featured a diverse lineup of prominent leaders, such as Ruslan Khalilov, CEO of the Baku Stock Exchange; Roland Pryce, World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus; and Bahruz Naghiyev, Deputy CEO of PASHA Bank.
It also included Hiroko Yano, Director General of the Sustainability Management Department at JBIC; and Manas Gizdhuani, CEO of the AIFC Green Finance Centre.
Together, they discussed challenges in mobilising financial support and the importance of strategic partnerships for advancing climate action and sustainable growth.

Insights on Sustainable Development
The Green Zone’s agenda also featured various panel discussions covering critical topics such as innovations in sustainable development, strategies for carbon reduction, industrial sustainability, the integration of green technology, and frameworks for sustainable resource-based economies.
Local and international experts shared insights on key themes to inspire and guide efforts for effective climate action.

Engaging Activities in the Green Zone
In addition to the panel discussions, the Green Zone featured an “Extreme Hangout” area that provided an engaging environment for attendees, offering activities such as film screenings, yoga sessions, and debate-style discussions.
COP29 showcased a commitment to sustainability through expert panels and interactive experiences, emphasizing community-driven solutions to climate challenges.
