The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is helping address Poland’s housing shortage with a €100 million loan to Vantage Development. Vantage is a leading residential-for-rent developer in Poland, owned by Germany’s TAG Immobilien. This investment will support the construction of energy-efficient housing across the country.
Addressing Poland’s Housing Shortage and Refugee Needs
Poland is facing a critical housing shortage. Around 1.5 million housing units are needed to meet the demands of Polish citizens, foreign residents, and the growing number of Ukrainian refugees. This €100 million loan will enable Vantage Development to build approximately 3,000 new rental apartments. Vantage’s long-term plan is to create a portfolio of 10,000 rental units, helping to alleviate Poland’s housing crisis.

EBRD’s Growing Support for Poland’s Private Rental Sector
This loan marks the EBRD’s fifth transaction in Poland’s private rental sector in the last two years. The growing demand for new housing in Poland has led the Bank to increase its investments in this sector. The aim is to provide high-quality, affordable rental housing to meet the country’s housing needs.
Building Energy-Efficient Homes for a Sustainable Future
In line with its Green Economy Transition (GET) strategy, the EBRD is funding the development of energy-efficient buildings. All the apartments funded by this loan will exceed Poland’s “nearly Zero Energy Buildings” (nZEB) requirements by at least 10%. This will help create a greener, more sustainable housing stock in Poland, contributing to the country’s decarbonization goals.
These new homes will not only provide much-needed housing but will also support Poland’s transition to a low-carbon economy by reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
