CarbiCrete, a Montreal based company, had announced a significant partnership with Meta to enhance its low carbon concrete production technology. This collaboration will enable CarbiCrete to expand its capacity and bring innovative cement-free concrete to construction sites.
Cement-Free Concrete
CarbiCrete has created a technology that replaces traditional cement with steel making slag in concrete. The slag, a by-product of steel production, is the concrete mix’s binding agent. This technology reduces concrete’s carbon footprint, contributing to global emissions.
One of the primary benefits of this concrete is the ability to capture and store atmospheric CO2. The captured CO2 mineralizes in the concrete and becomes permanently trapped, resulting in long term carbon removal.

Expanding Production in Quebec and Ontario
CarbiCrete plans to scale up its operations in Patio Drummond, located in Quebec, through its partnership with Meta production. This site is the foundation for CarbiCrete’s commercial deployment of cement-free concrete technology. Additionally, CarbiCrete will install its specialized equipment at Canal Block, a block manufacturer in Ontario. This will help to increase the availability of sustainable and low carbon concrete across Canada.
A Step Toward Sustainable Construction
