Electrolux Group yesterday announced its second round of science-based climate targets after they reached their previous targets three years before planned.
The new targets aim to reduce the company’s scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by 85% and its absolute scope 3 emissions by 42% between 2021-2030.
If Electrolux’s new scope 1 & 2 targets come to fruition as planned, they will reduce their emissions in operations by 97% by 2030 as compared to 2015.
“We’re very proud to have our second science-based climate target approved at the end of 2023 by the Science Based Targets initiative after achieving our first science-based target in 2023 three years ahead of plan. We’re focused on keeping up our momentum to drive climate action throughout our value chain,” Electrolux Group CEO Jonas Samuelson stated.
Earlier, Electrolux ranked among the first 100 companies to have ambitious science based climate targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2018.
Science based climate targets are set by organizations in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement. Electrolux claims to have set targets aligned with capping global warming temperatures at 1.5°C this century.
