The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in collaboration with the European Union (EU) and Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo (RBKO), is boosting its support for green economy initiatives in Kosovo through a €5 million credit line.
The SME Go Green programme provides funding to support MSMEs in adopting sustainable practices with assistance from EU investment incentives.
These funds will concentrate on energy efficiency, resource optimization, and renewable energy projects to help decrease greenhouse gas emissions nationwide.

Support for Agribusiness and Women-Led Enterprises
One-third of the EBRD’s loan will focus on investments in Kosovo’s agribusiness sector to enhance value chains.
Additionally, the program will support women-led MSMEs, ensuring that 25% of the beneficiaries promote gender equality in business growth.
MSMEs that complete green economy projects may qualify for investment incentives.
Renewable energy and agribusiness projects may receive a 15% loan incentive; other eligible green initiatives can get 10%.

Sergiy Maslichenko, EBRD Head of Kosovo, said “We are proud to continue our support in Kosovo for MSMEs, a vital component of the local economy, with various programmes tailored to their needs.
He added, “This initiative is key to pushing the green transition forward at a granular level, helping local firms achieve sustainability and enhance their resilience. With the EU and Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo as our partners, we are well positioned to foster a greener private sector in the country.”
RBKO, an EBRD partner since 2019, will join the SME Go Green program in September 2024, leading in Kosovo.
The EBRD, Kosovo’s largest institutional investor, has invested approximately €680 million in over 110 projects since 2012. With this new initiative, the EBRD continues to back Kosovo’s private and public sectors, prioritising sustainable and green development.
