Emirates NBD Egypt Joins Chapter Zero Egypt to Drive Climate Governance and Sustainability
Emirates NBD Egypt officially joined Chapter Zero Egypt, the first association of its kind in Africa and the Middle East dedicated to promoting climate governance and sustainability.
This move is in line with the bank’s strategy to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon sustainable economy and promote sustainability across its operations.
Chapter Zero Egypt is part of the global Climate Governance Initiative (CGI), which was initiated by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Through its membership, Emirates NBD Egypt will have access to information and insights that will help it improve its efforts for sustainable development, fully exploit green finance opportunities, and address climate-related issues.
It will be accomplished by implementing sustainable policies and procedures to reduce the danger of climate change and take advantage of the opportunities to accelerate the shift to a green economy.

As a part of the wider CGI network spanning 26 countries, Chapter Zero Egypt is essential in promoting a culture of sustainability and sharing best practices on climate governance.
The initiative empowers corporate boards to address climate change and carbon neutrality, equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed to drive meaningful action.
Amgad Doma, Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer at Emirates NBD Egypt, said, “We strongly believe in the importance of forging strategic partnerships with leading environmental sustainability entities, aligning with Emirates NBD Egypt’s vision and continuous commitment to fostering comprehensive sustainable development within the Egyptian banking sector.”
He added, “Our collaboration with Chapter Zero Egypt marks a significant milestone in achieving our sustainability and corporate governance objectives. This includes climate change risk management approaches, and leveraging opportunities in renewable energy and green finance, among other initiatives.
