Battolyser Systems, the company behind the world’s first electrolyzer with integrated battery functionality that offers the most cost-effective green hydrogen, has successfully secured €30 million in Series A funding.
As per the announcement, the investment comes from Global Cleantech Capital, Innovation Industries, and Invest-NL.
The company plans to use this capital to scale its operations and launch its next-generation electrolyzer in 2025.
The Battolyser technology is designed to adapt to intermittent renewable energy sources with complete flexibility, enabling innovative business models and reducing green hydrogen costs while easing grid congestion.
The upcoming Battolyser model will be available in 2.5 MW plug-and-play skid units and 5 MW modules, each equipped with an integrated Balance of Plant for on-site installation.

Mattijs Slee, CEO of Battolyser Systems said, “Over the last year we scaled our technology from a successful industrial pilot at RWE’s Magnum power plant in Eemshaven, The Netherlands, to a MW-scale demonstration unit. We are proud to receive the continuous support of our existing investors with deep and cleantech expertise whilst adding Invest-NL, the Dutch National.Promotional Institution, which plays a crucial role in the Dutch energy transition.”
“Global Cleantech Capital and Innovation Industries completed a first close of the Series A round of €15 million in July 2023 and further increased their investment in a second close of an additional €15 million with Invest-NL in September 2024.”

The recent Series A funding adds to the €40 million financing agreement that Battolyser Systems secured with the European Investment Bank (EIB) in October 2023.
This deal marked Battolyser Systems as the EIB’s inaugural Dutch climate tech scale-up investment.
Together, the Series A and EIB funds will play a crucial role in financing Battolyser Systems’ large-scale manufacturing facility, which will be situated in Rotterdam’s port area—the heart of Europe’s hydrogen sector. This facility is expected to meet growing commercial demand for the company’s innovative green hydrogen solutions.
