The European Investment Bank (EIB) announced a €150 million loan to Pekao Leasing, a subsidiary of Bank Pekao SA, to facilitate the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) throughout Poland.
The loan, with a sizeable amount designated for developing areas, aims to give Polish SMEs more access to financial options.
Robert Sochacki, the Bank Pekao Management Board Vice-Chair said, “Cooperation between Bank Pekao Group and the EIB dates back to 2004. This is a key partnership for us in supporting Polish companies looking to develop in accordance with modern climate-protection requirements.”
He added, “Over the years, as part of implementing our strategy of developing cooperation with SMEs, as well as our environmental, social and governance strategy, we have repeatedly obtained EIB financing to support investments in climate protection, environmental sustainability and women’s entrepreneurship, which have contributed significantly to the development of these areas.”

The loan is expected to support around €420 million in total investments, providing financial help to Polish enterprises for necessary expansions and renovations.

Through EIB financing, SMEs can support the nation’s energy transition goals by replacing outdated gear and equipment with more energy-efficient alternatives.
A minimum of 20% of the EIB loan will go toward environmentally friendly initiatives that increase energy efficiency and encourage the growth of renewable energy sources.

The loan, which emphasizes climate-friendly technologies and low-emission transportation, is expected to hasten Poland’s transition to a greener economy.
Bank Pekao coordinated the transaction with support from PZU Group, whose guarantees facilitated the loan’s provision on favourable terms.
PZU Group’s involvement reflects its commitment to supporting programs that advance Poland’s transition to a green economy.
