Eni, an energy company based in Italy, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the government agency Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC).
The two companies aim to increase their cooperation in the gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) industries and increase the variety of energy supply sources available.
The Memorandum of Cooperation highlights the vital role of gas and LNG in the global energy transition.
Eni and JOGMEC stress the significance of balancing carbon neutrality and economic growth.

The agreement also includes discussions on potential LNG supply opportunities from Eni to Japan.
Additionally, the agreement shows a commitment to involving the cooperation of Japanese financial institutions for Eni’s Coral North LNG project in Mozambique.
Eni also supports the Coalition for LNG Emission Abatement toward Net Zero (CLEAN Initiative), an industry effort supported by LNG importers from Korea and Japan

The effort, which has the support of the governments of South Korea and Japan, aims to exchange best practices and expertise for reducing emissions along the whole LNG value chain.
Additionally, the CLEAN initiative emphasises Seoul and Tokyo’s dedication to the decarbonisation problem.
