TotalEnergies, in partnership with Saudi developer Aljomaih Energy and Water Company (AEW), signed a significant 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) for the development of the Rabigh 2 solar power project. His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy, attended the formalization of the agreement.
Rabigh 2 Solar Project
Saudi Arabia includes the 300 MW Rabigh 2 solar facility in Round 5 of its National Renewable Energy Program (NREP). The initiative aims to help the country diversify its energy sources significantly. Saudi Vision 2030 aims for a balanced energy mix, with gas and renewable energy contributing 50% to electricity generation. The project will connect to the national grid in 2026, supporting Saudi Arabia’s goal to reduce reliance on liquid fuels.

The Rabigh 2 solar project marks another key achievement for TotalEnergies in advancing renewable energy initiatives in Saudi Arabia. The company is building a 119 MW solar plant in Wadi Al Dawasir, which is set to begin operations in early 2025.
