TotalEnergies announced the commencement of gas production from the Fenix field, located near Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.
The field, which is part of the Cuenca Marina Austral 1 (CMA-1) concession, is anticipated to boost Argentina’s daily production capacity to 10 million cubic meters and natural gas supply.
Together with partners Harbour Energy and Pan American Energy, TotalEnergies holds a 37.5% stake in the CMA-1 concession.
The Fenix project focuses on a new unmanned platform connected to the CMA-1 infrastructure and situated 70 meters underwater.

A 35-kilometer underwater pipeline carries gas from the Fenix field to the TotalEnergies-run Véga Pléyade platform, where it is processed onshore at the Cañadón Alfa and Río Cullen facilities.
Utilizing the local infrastructure, the Fenix field is planned as a low-cost, low-emission project with a carbon intensity of only 9 kg CO2e per barrel of oil equivalent.
